Our training schedule start with only 20 miles a week, and peaks at 40 miles a week. Our runners get prepared with less miles due to the hill and speed work training incorporated into our weekly schedule. Few organized marathon training programs offer such varied group workouts.
Here is what just a few runners have to share:
I just completed my fourth 50K and this program has made all the difference. My legs felt so much stronger than they did last year at the same race. I actually picked up 31 places over my finish last year. I was continually passing competitors over the last 10 miles, which just happened to be some of the toughest miles of the race. This program flat out works.

I would like to thank you for the awesome experience I have had in participating with your group while training for my first marathon. I know that I would not be able to succeed at this goal without a program and luckily I have chosen wisely. I joined this group by chance after mentioning my goal to a co-worker, who just by chance is one of the "cool" pacers leading the program. I was cautious about the idea after having been involved in chain gyms that are often over crowded meat markets, in my opinion. Those atmospheres have forced me into the outdoors and into running solo. I can say that with the group I run with I always feel welcome, people are positive, fun to be around, don't complain about getting sweaty, an overall great group of people. The competitive side isn't the annoying over the top meathead competition you would typically think of. It is encouragement to push yourself and do your best. And your best isn't weighted as the lowest if you finish last, it is still an accomplishment because it is your best and that is the ultimate goal.
My distance has gone well beyond what I thought I could push myself to. I have become faster and my endurance has improved. It has made me look forward to working out with this group and has exceeded my expectations in more ways than I intended, only downside is a few casualty toenails. I would recommend these trainers and their program before any other in the Atlanta area. I hope to continue to be a part of their programs and watch them grow! Thank you.

"Last December, I attempted to train for the ING Georgia Half Marathon on my own. It didn't seem like such a daunting task at the time; until I actually started training. I had read marathon training plans online and a training book; feeling that I was an expert, I started to train. My training efforts lasted a month. I started skipping runs and skipping more runs. I was unmotivated and didn't really know what I was doing. By the time race day came along, my longest run had been six miles. I still participated in the race, and I finished just at 3 hours. I vowed that for the next race I would do it right and train correctly.
In July, I made a great decision and signed up with Good Run. The combination of long runs, tempo runs, speed work, and core workouts has really benefited me. I am never bored with a workout because they always vary. The Pacers are very supportive, and the group is so much fun to run with. I find myself looking forward to the workouts. My endurance level has significantly increased and I have found that I really love to run.
I completed my first "trained for" Half Marathon in September and with the help of Good Run I finished in 2:20 - a far cry from my previous finishing time. I recently ran the Baltimore Half Marathon and finished in 2:16. The Baltimore Half was a very hilly half marathon and I felt very prepared thanks to the hill workouts that I have been doing with Good Run. I have another half marathon coming up next week, and then I will start training for my first full marathon in March. I can't thank Good Run enough for showing me what a successful training program can offer. I look forward to continuing my training with Good Run and becoming a faster and more successful runner."

I DID IT!!! I ran the Toronto Half Marathon yesterday! And I beat my estimated completion time by 20 minutes - I took over a minute off my mile from training to race - to say I'm excited is such an understatement! The feeling of accomplishment when I crossed that finish line was unlike anything I'd ever felt before - a mixture of exhaustion and euphoria. I'm absolutely thrilled with what I did - and now I'm ready to do it again !
This is my first program - and my first major race! I like the intensity of the weekday workouts - but more importantly, the diversity of the workouts. Getting a normal, short run in with interval training is great and pushes me more than I would push myself (my biggest weakness!). It's also nice to have a time goal each workout to reach for. However, my goal is to just complete a half marathon - so time goals are somewhat secondary.
Justin, Matt and Mike [Good Run Trainers] push me to my physical limits - and I love it. And they're ridiculously fun too! Every aspect of my running has improved since starting Good Run. I could barely get out a mile, let alone two, when I started. I can now do long runs (over 10 miles), my pace has gotten much faster, I'm in better shape than I was at age 18, and I am ready for my half marathon. I will kick @$$!
I feel amazing after I run. I have lost fat, firmed up and am not constantly sucking in when I'm in bikini. And beyond that - I love our group! I have so much fun running with them.
Good Run rocks! I'm more in tune with my body and that feels great at age 31. And I feel that if I can run 10+ miles in the Georgia heat in August - I can do anything!! I have, and will continue, to refer friends, family and colleagues to this program. If Good Run can get my lazy bum motivated to run 13.1 miles (without being chased!!) - they can do it for anyone!

Toronto Half Marathon - 2 hours, 20 minutes!
